Hollywood Actress, Gabriel Union Wade recently took to her Twitter page to bare it all on personal rape experience. According to her, dressing modestly does not stop a rapist from perpetrating his evil acts.
She went further by explaining how she was raped in a store where she used to work. She added that on the day she was raped, she was well-dressed, and added that painfully, that did not stop her from being raped.
She however, defended other rape survivors saying most of them do not disclose their experience because of fear of being stigmatized and thereby losing their jobs and values in the society.
The actress wrote about this after an op-ed was written for the New York Times by “Big Bang Theory”, actress Mayim Bialik where she stated that she made the choice to dress modestly and refrain from flirting to keep herself safe.
“In a perfect world, women should be free to act however they want. But our world isn’t perfect. Nothing — absolutely nothing — excuses men for assaulting or abusing women. But we can’t be naïve about the culture we live in.”
